We open a treasure chest of more than 200 glove-puppets so the children can select 2 each and learn how to manipulate them; if there's time they can also creat puppets from available materials. The children then work in pairs or small groups to make-up a story. They perform their plays in specially designed puppet booths with Prof Panic acting as compere and interpreter. The session only ends when the last puppet is recaptured and replaced in the chest.
This session is brilliant for 5- 12 year olds, as it develops storytelling
skills and can be a great aid to creative writing. Apart from that, it's just great fun; the shyest child can perform happily hidden behind a puppet!
Puppet play helps to develop confidence and a sense of achievement at all levels. |
